Pruning
- Crown Cleaning involves the selective removal of dead, diseased, detached, broken, or otherwise undesirable branches. This is done to improve aesthetics, promote tree health, and to reduce hazards.
- Crown Thinning is the selective removal of live branches, mainly on the outer portion of the canopy. This done evenly throughout the tree to reduce wind sail, increase light and air movement through the interior canopy, and to lighten the ends of excessivley heavy limbs.
- Crown Raising is pruning the lower limbs to provide clearance for pedestrians, vehicles, or structures.
- Crown Reduction involves pruning large and/or medium sized limbs back to a secondary limb so that the overall height and/or spread of the canopy is reduced. This not the same as topping, if proper pruning cuts are made.
- Crown Restoration uses selective pruning to improve structure, form, or appearance after damage. This type of corrective pruning usually takes multiple pruning sessions over several years.

Removals
Trees are benefactors to the environment they grow in so the decision to remove a tree should not be taken lightly. There are times, however, when a tree must be removed. If a tree becomes structurally unsound due to decay or physical injury, that tree is hazardous and should be removed.
Frequently, a tree is planted too close to a structure when it is young. Over time it outgrows its environment or begins to damage the nearby structure. Such a tree would be a candidate for removal.
Trees, Etc... has the knowledge and skill to evaluate your trees and provide risk assesment. Should it be necessary to remove one or more of your trees, we have the trained personnel and equipment to remove even the largest of trees safely.

Stump Grinding
There are several reasons why you may decide to grind a stump after a tree has been removed.
- Stumps are not attractive and can cause damage to a lawnmower. After a stump has been ground, turf can be installed in its place.
- If a stump is left in the ground, over time it begins to decay. This decaying wood attracts termites. Depending on the proximity of the stump to any wooden structures, this may be undesireable.
- Although it not recommended, there are times when it is nessecary to replant in the exact same location a previous tree was located. Grinding the stump deeper and wider than normal will expidite preperation of the area for the new tree.
Fertilizing
Fertilization is an important aspect of mature tree care. Trees require certain nutrients and minerals to function and grow. Urban landscape trees are often growing in soils which lack sufficient available nutrients for satisfactory growth and development. The nurtitional requirements of trees vary with the time of year, which we address with the following formulas.
- Our spring formula is formulated to promote canopy growth and is applied during the "growing" season when tree resources are being used for leaf and branch development.
- Our fall formula is formulated to promote root growth and is applied during the colder months when tree resources are being utilized for root development.
- We also have a stress formula which contains the building blocks to repair damaged tissue if a tree has been stressed.

Pest Control
It's much easier to keep a tree healthy than it is to bring a tree back from decline. Many opportunistic insects and disease pathogens can be controlled by maintaining a trees health and vigor.
Not all pests are opportunistic. Most sucking insects seek out the sweet sugars in the leaves of healthy trees, like scale and aphids. Whether it be insects, fungi, or bacteria, we can diagnose the problem, make treatment recommendations, and carry out those recommendations.
In compliance with Texas state law, we have all the required licenses necessary to perform lawn and ornamental pest control.
Cabling
Cables are installed in trees to provide support to weak or potentially dangerous limbs. By connecting two or more limbs together with a cabling system, you may increase the longevity of the limbs in need of support.Risk assessment is a big part of what arborists do. Every situation is different and many factors are involved in planning a cabling system. Only a qualified arborist should be consulted to determine if a cabling system is right for your particular situation.
